RECREATIONAL AND PARTICIPATIVE WORKSHOPS
Our organisers-mediators are housed in several old stone barns, where they present the skills of long-ago
- The clog-maker workshop
The clog-maker will welcome you in authentic surroundings, and tell you some of the things he knows about the history of clogs, how they are made, anecdotes and other legends from the Pyrenees...
- The smithy workshop
Between blows to the anvil and the back-and-forth blast of the bellows, the blacksmith will show you his workshop, tools and production techniques.
- The horn com workshop
Here you can see a maker of combs and other objects made of Ariège horn.
- The bakery workshop
Let yourself be guided by the smell of bread baked the old-fashioned way in the site’s wood-fired oven. Our baker will be only too pleased to take you round, telling you about the history of bread through the ages until the very last step, the tasting. This workshop is open from mid-May to the end of September.
- The tilt-hammer forge workshop
The tilt-hammer forge is housed in a building that is more than 450 years old. Already there in mediaeval times, it was listed at the end of the 1980s.
The tilt hammer, an enormous hammer weighing 300 kg, was used to make farm implements. It still works today, for the greatest pleasure of the visitors at the time of the numerous demonstrations.
- The Scios gold-washer workshop
Thanks to this workshop, you will get an original introduction to the mythical gold-washing activity in our rivers. An enthusiast will answer your questions and with a bit of luck you’ll see him find some gold flakes!
This activity is organised from time to time during the high season.
